And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free – John 8:32
In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, the truth can be a powerful force that provides direction and clarity. However, it’s common to feel as though the truth is a tool used to condemn us, highlight our flaws, and point out our mistakes. Yet, the truth doesn’t exist to shame us; it’s a crucial stepping stone towards our personal growth. We are all imperfect and continuously learning, and it’s the truth that guides us on this never-ending journey. When we embrace our limitations, we open ourselves up to valuable lessons and newfound wisdom. Rather than seeing the truth as a weapon, we should view it as a guardrail that leads us towards the path of freedom. Ultimately, the truth empowers us, teaching us what is right or wrong, and guiding us towards a better way of living.
If a decision or action causes you to feel guilty or condemned, you should consider whether this is because the decision or action is not the truth.
Making decisions is never easy, especially when they leave you with feelings of guilt. These emotions can be tough to face, but they also offer a valuable opportunity for introspection. When you’re struggling with guilt, it’s important to step back and examine the decision or action that’s causing it. Ask yourself why you’re feeling this way – is it because what you did wasn’t aligned with your personal values or beliefs? Or could it be that it’s simply not the right choice for you? Either way, taking the time to consider whether the decision or action lines up with the truth can help you move forward with clarity and confidence. Ultimately, it’s crucial to stay mindful of yourself and your Creator when making choices, ensuring you stay true to who you are and what you stand for.
When you go to great lengths to defend your actions or decisions, you should ask yourself whether you are looking for validation and why you need to if your stance or judgements are correct.
It can be tempting to defend our actions or decisions at every turn, but it’s worth stopping to ask ourselves why we’re doing it. Are we seeking validation from others? And if so, why? If our actions or decisions are based in truth and align with our values, then we should feel confident in them without needing external validation. Of course, it’s natural to seek support and affirmation from those we trust, but we should also be aware of when we’re relying too heavily on others to validate our choices. Are you missing your Creator’s validation in all these? By taking ownership of our decisions and standing by our values, we can ultimately become more self-assured and resilient in the face of their outcomes.
So long as you are secure in the reality of your acts or decisions, you own them, and you owe them directly to your creator, there should be no cause to seek validation from anyone, any book, or any person to reaffirm your stance.
Seeking validation from others has become the norm. We rely so heavily on validation or reaffirmation for our own choices, even when we know deep down what the truth is. The truth lives within us; constantly guiding us towards the right path, whether we choose to listen or not. That’s the spirit of truth, and it means that we no longer need anyone else to tell us what’s right or wrong because we already know. So why do we still get upset or feel condemned when others don’t agree with us? Perhaps it’s because we lack confidence in our own truth. So the next time you find yourself feeling upset or condemned because of another person’s truth, take a moment to check your own confidence in your choices. Remember that you can trust the truth within yourself and that your decisions are valid even if they don’t align with someone else’s truth.
In the end, “Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth..”, Ephesians 6:14. Standing strong against the challenges of life can be tough, but it becomes easier when you have a foundation of truth. Like a belt that holds all other pieces of armour in place, the belt of truth provides stability and security to our lives. When we fasten on this essential piece of spiritual armour, we can stand firm in our convictions and resist the lies that the world throws our way. Whether it’s the temptation to compromise our values or the pressure to conform to societal norms, the belt of truth helps us stay anchored in what matters most. So let us stand, therefore, confident in the knowledge that we are equipped for whatever challenges life may bring because we have 121 connections with the spirit of truth.
